Welcome to Sapsford Driving School, proudly serving the south-east Sheffield area, including S8, S12, S13, S18, S20, S21, and S26.
We offer driving lessons for learners of all ages and abilities, and our instructors are also specially qualified to teach individuals with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Whether you experience nervousness, anxiety, neurodivergence, or have learning difficulties, we tailor our lessons to suit your unique needs, ensuring a calm and supportive learning environment.
Our instructors are friendly, approachable, and exceptionally patient - they’re here to guide you every step of the way towards becoming a confident and capable driver. For students still in school, we also provide early morning lessons on select days to fit around your schedule.
We teach manual driving in a VW Golf or a Vauxhaull Corsa - ideal cars for learners, combining comfort, safety, and control. We’d be delighted to help you begin your driving journey!
Our story
Our founder, Paul, has over 40 years of driving experience under his belt. Just take it from him:
“Teaching people to drive has always felt like second nature to me - after all, it runs in the family! Both my dad and my uncle were driving instructors in Sheffield for decades, and I had the privilege of growing up watching them pass their skills on to learners of all ages.
“From a young age, I was often found sitting in the back of their lessons, absorbing everything. This unique upbringing not only gave me a deep understanding of the road but also a firsthand look at the patience, dedication, and attention it takes to teach others.
“Teaching driving isn't just a job for me - it's a lifelong passion that’s been ingrained in me from the start.”
Meet Kim!
Kim recently joined the team, bringing a wealth of experience to helping learners build confidence behind the wheel.
“Hello! I've spent 20 years working in special educational needs support in secondary education, helping young people build confidence, break down barriers, and hit their goals. I've supported students aged 16 and over through exam pressure, mainstream classrooms, and life after school. There's nothing better than watching someone realise they can do the thing they didn't think they could.
“Now I'm bringing that same patience to driving lessons. Working alongside Paul, I teach manual lessons in a Vauxhall Corsa, with the same steady, encouraging approach that's worked for two decades in the classroom.
“Outside of lessons, you'll find me walking the dog, watching sport, or dragged along to play it by my family.!”

Paul and Kim both teach across south-east Sheffield, and you can choose lessons that suit your pace, from a standard one-hour session to a discounted 10-hour block. Kim's currently offering an exclusive introductory rate as she builds up her diary, so it's a great time to get in touch and book with her.
